FEATURED CROP-HAIL INSURANCE PRODUCTS

BASIC – Basic hail plans are designed to cover on a per acre basis.  This plan will cover the portion of the crop not insured under an MPCI policy.

  • Insured elects a coverage amount and damage is determined as a percent.  Generally without a deductible.
  • BASIC hail plans pay 1 for 1 up to 70% and adds an additional 1.5% on any percentage over 70%.

EXAMPLE:  75% damage would result in payment of: 75% – 70% = 5% (over 70%) x 1.5 (payment factor beyond 70%) = 7.5% + 70% = 77.5% of the liability on damaged acreage will be paid.

COMP2+ – Comp2+ hail plans also cover on a per acre basis and covers the portion of the crop not insured under an MPCI policy.  This plan works  much like a Basic plan except that it uses a 2x multiplier to increase indemnity at a faster rate on loss percentages over 10.

  • For loss equal or greater than 1% and equal or less than 10% the payable loss is the actual loss.
  • For losses in excess of 10%, the payable loss is the sum of the actual loss less than or equal to 10% and the product of multiplying each percent by which the actual loss exceeds 10% by 2, until the aggregate loss equals 100%.

EXAMPLE: 25% loss on the policy would result in a payment of 25% – 10% = 15% x 2 = 30% + 10% = 40% of the liability on damaged acreage will be paid.
